This entry is for my good friend Bryan. He would like to know what happened to boat that left the couple stranded in shark-infested waters.

I saw Open Water last night. It’s quite an experience. The last half hour of the film is very intense. The kind of intense that you find yourself sitting hunched over in your seat, holding the seat in front of you. In short, it’s good stuff.
The crew of the boat does a head count of 20 divers before it gets to the diving destination. One man forgets his goggles, so he can’t go down. Minutes later, a man and woman surface. One of them is having problems diving. So, they get back on the boat. The crew member makes three tally marks next to the 20 head count. The goggle forgetting guy asks to use one of their sets of goggles. The woman gives him hers. A different crew member won’t let the goggle guy dive unless he goes with a partner. The man from the couple agrees to go back in the water with this guy. The tally marks aren’t changed. So, after 18 divers are back in the boat, the crew thinks they have 20. The couple that gets stranded also decided to swim off by themselves, instead of staying with the group. When they arrive back at the meeting point about five minutes after the set time, the boat is gone.
