Vote For Change

MoveOn.org is sponsoring The Vote For Change Tour. Their website has the artists, schedules and a form to fill out to join a ticket pre-sale e-mail list. I’d like to get my hands on tickets for the October 5th show (Dave Matthews, Jurassic 5 and My Morning Jacket) in Madison. I saw Jurassic 5 in concert a couple of years ago. They put on a great show. I ‘m also interested in My Morning Jacket. I’ve heard a few of their songs and they reminded me of Wilco.

HOLLYWOOD (Reuters) - They really said it — notable quotes from the news:

“If you are listening to a rock star in order to get your voting information on who to vote for, you are a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we’re morons.”

— Shock rocker ALICE COOPER.

I highly doubt that people wait to hear who Dave Matthews or Bruce Springsteen are supporting before casting their ballots. Hopefully though, the shows will bring attention to the election and reach younger people who don’t traditionally show up to vote.

Staying on this subject though, it boggles my mind that anyone other than the wealthiest Americans support the President. How long can people ignore an out of control deficit, yet huge tax cuts for the rich? How about the over a thousand dead and thousands badly injured fighting a war that we didn’t need to be in? Or, a consistently huge unemployment rate? Or, how about a President that wanted to amend our constitution to TAKE AWAY rights?
