Spring Green

I had a nice weekend in the charming town of Spring Green.

After a two hour drive from Milwaukee, I arrived on Saturday afternoon. Rajan hooked me up with a ticket for the matinee at the American Players Theater. It’s a great venue. If you’ve never been there, it’s worth the drive to Spring Green for this alone. I saw a comedy, London Assurance by Dion Boucicault. The production was outstanding.

After the show, I drove into town to check into Spring Green’s finest lodging facility, The Round Barn. Thee deluxe accommodations included an inroom jacuzzi. Very nice. The lodge also had a pool, whirlpool and sauna. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any time to use them.

Saturday night, Rajan and Tora hosted a fantastic dinner at the General Store. The food was great. The store was a neat place. They sold a bunch of cool little things, like spy pens with invisible ink, pirate eye patches and fake mustaches. The next morning, upon Raj’s suggestion, Bryan, Judy and I returned to the store for breakfast. While breakfast was good, the 45 minute wait for it wasn’t. If you’re planning on visiting, you may want to call your order in the night before.

After dinner, we moved over to the hotspot of Spring Green’s nightlife, The Shed. It was good to see Jesse and Dave, two of Raj’s close friends who have moved out east. At one point in the evening, Bryan made a questionable decision in regards to the purchase of shots. It was a great time, but I did pay a price for it in the morning.

Rajan and Tora’s wedding was spectacular. Really. Words can’t do it justice. The reception was very nice. The Shukla and Frank families are such kind, warm people. It was a nice experience to share the afternoon with them.

My good friend Chuck forgot to mention that, in addition to being Spring Green’s finest hotel lodging establishment, The Round Barn also offers the area’s best culinary chefs at the Pasta Barn restaurant.

Basically, what I’d like to point out from the keyboard of my new Powerbook G4 is that Chuck and the Life of Leisure are officially on notice. The mother of all minutiae/stupidity blogs is about to start up, just as soon as I remember that I need to ask Cody - very nicely - if he would be willing to host.

My point is this: Chuck has perfected the Web art of blogging the tiniest possible details of one’s life (outside of “What’s for lunch?”). My goal is to surpass The Chuck by focusing on banal topics not even I would consider interesting enough to read.
