The Romantic Comedy With Zombies
Shaun of the Dead is very good on many levels. It’s undoubtedly the most accessible zombie movie, a zombie movie for people who don’t like zombie movies, if you will. The story is about a lovable loser with girl problems that are mostly caused by his obnoxious best friend’s influence. Soon zombies show up, as always, without much explanation. Shaun has to fight them while trying to win back the heart of his ex-girlfriend. It’s very funny and charming. The zombie stuff is good too, much tamer than the recent Dawn of the Dead remake. Simon Pegg (Shaun) has great comic timing. Also, the actors who play Dawn and Tim on the BBC’s The Office series appear in small roles.
Speaking of The Office, I saw on Amazon that the final two extended episodes of the series are being released on DVD on November 16th. The episodes pick up the story a year after the second season ends.
