I Heart iTunes

This morning I looked on iTunes for something new to buy. I narrowed my choices to: REM’s Around The Sun, Fatboy Slim’s Palookaville, William Shatner’s Has Been and Cake’s Pressure Chief, all released today.

I liked the new songs that they played in Chicago a few weeks back, so I purchased the Cake album. After having a listen, it’s not as good as Comfort Eagle, but there are a few good tracks. “Dime”, “Take It All Away”, and “Waiting” are my favorites. I’m a big fan of the inclusion of horns in pop music.

iTunes is awesome. Since you can also purchase music by the song too, I grabbed Shatner’s remake of Pulp’s “Common People”(fantastic) and Fatboy Slim’s Steve Miller cover of “The Joker”(mediocre).

My next purchase will be Has Been. I read that Ben Folds arranged the music for and produced the album. Also, it has a number of guest appearances including Aimee Mann and Henry Rollins.

I am eagerly awaiting the release of Pat Green’s new Album “Lucky Ones” on October 19.

I’m also going to grab the new Shatner. I listened to all the previews - most were very good. I hope it’s not just a novelty, that it will have some staying power.

The new REM is great. If you don’t have that yet, why would you waste your time with a load of crap like Cake?
