Is anybody else still watching The Apprentice?
Following a highly entertaining first season, the second serving of The Apprentice has been a bit disappointing.
Of the reality tv genre (my guilty pleasure), this is one of the best shows. I’ll admit that the “you’re fired!” novelty has worn off a little, but the show still has its moments. For instance, on tonight’s episode, a contestant takes off her skirt on the streets of NYC to sell a candy bar for $20 during a competition. That’s not even the good part. The good part comes in the board room when The Donald, being very serious, tells this woman that he’s “not hiring strippers”, slaps his hand on the table in front of him and points his hand toward her like a pistol in one continuous motion while saying “you’re fired”. It was a classic Trump moment.
My disappointment comes from the lackluster candidate casting this season. None of the remaining contestants are very interesting, in a reality tv way. These shows work best when they resemble a train wreck. Outside of the catfight during last week’s boardroom segment, these people have been getting along too well. Also, the show needs more Trump. The ten minutes of Trump that are scattered through out the hour will always make this show worth watching. I love those “candid moments” when we see Trump talking with his high ranking employees about how well the company is doing.
I wonder if we’ll ever get to see a similar moment of him yelling at the people responsible for his failing casinos? Probably not.
