Baseball Hall of Fame

Kudos to the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. It was annouced today that they voted Ryne Sandburg, one of my childhood heros, into the Hall of Fame on his third attempt. Sandburg, who joins first ballot inductee Wade Boggs in the Hall, was one of the great second basemen of his generation.

Baseball Schmaseball. It’s the freaking NFL Playoffs! I mean, have you seen the commercials? WHOOOOOO! It’s the second-greatest sporting spectacle in all of sports!

Jim Rice should be in the Hall.

Also, the NFL Playoffs!!! Benjamin Bratt with a goatee talking about quarterbacks and playoffs!!! Plus, sports radio plays the Jim Mora “Playoffs?!?!” sound clip all the time!!!

It’s the Playoffs!!!

I saw that commercial too. NFL, don’t kid yourselves. Benjamin Bratt is no Don Cheadle.

Since we’re talking sports, does anyone other than Dan miss the NHL?

What’s an NHL? I thought you said we were talking about sports!

I agree…Cubs Suck. Brewers suck a little less.

NFL playoff time, it will be snowing. Your lawn boy will be shoveling for you. Beer in the fridge. Pizza on the way. No reason to leave home.

Yes, I will miss the NHL. It is the ONLY sport to watch during the NBA season (that stands for Not Basketball Anymore).

Sorry for the second post, but I couldn’t vent in the other one. I have a burning question for the group out there:

Does it bother anyone else that Chuck would make his lawn boy shovel 8-10” of snow by himself?

Here’s how I see it going down…It is snowing tonight. Chuck is sitting in his recliner, in his pj’s with the little footies, sipping on some nice warm hot cocoa. All while watching “Beach Babes of Summer 4”. When his doorbell rings. It’s the lawn boy. He finished the driveway and walk, and he is now looking for his 10 bucks.

When the Chuck proclaims, “Be gone with you young man! I shall not give you a pittance. Alas, it is still snowing! I shall not pay for any shovelling before it’s time! I do expect, young man, that my drive and walk will be clean when I awake in the morn, or you shall not get an ounce of my gold.”

C’mon Chuck…seriously…at least tip the kid for cryin’ out loud.

The thing about the lawn boy, though, is the kid is something like 6’4”, 240 and solid. There’s no way Chuck could mess with the guy.

When I first met the lawn boy, I saw him coming across the street and thought the kid wanted to beat me up. It just turns out the lawn boy mistakenly thought I was Chuck.
