January in Chicago

Connie and I met up with her friends Natalie and Damien in Chicago over the weekend. We originally intended on seeing Handsome Boy Modeling School, but the show was postponed. Instead we saw a performance at Chicago’s sketch comedy festival by a funny two man troupe called Superpunk.

Afterwards, we went to a club called The Funky Buddha Lounge. It’s across the street from the Irish pub where George Clooney and Matt Damon filmed a scene from Ocean’s Eleven. I was amazed by the number of no neck muscle men that were in this place. We danced to the music of Beyonce, Usher, Lil’ Kim, Lil’ Jon, Lil’ Wayne and all the other Lil’s. It was fun.

The hotel that we were staying at had White Sox winterfest going on. Unfortunately, I didn’t run into Polish sports hero, A.J. Pierzynski.

Before leaving the Windy City, we caught a matinee of the new Clint Eastwood movie, Million Dollar Baby. It’s good, not great. The performances are outstanding, especially Eastwood, but the last act is a little too heavy handed.

Haven’t seen Million Dollar baby yet, kind of bored with the idea. The one thing I’m upset about is the title. I was writing a script about the life of Ray Allen called “Million Dollar Baby” Just can’t get a break.
