Overnight

I stopped by Dan’s place tonight to drop off a tin of delicious carmel corn for him and Jen. They love carmel corn and just can’t get enough of it. If you ever want to buy them a present for any occasion or just want to get on their good side, buy them some. It’s their favorite.

After my visit with the Cody’s, I went to the Times and saw a documentary called Overnight. Tonight was the last night of its run. If you missed it, check it out when it comes out on DVD. It’s the story of a bartender who writes a screenplay and experiences overnight success. Miramax signs this unproven guy to direct his own script (with a 15 million dollar budget) and also gives him final cut including letting his band do the film’s soundtrack. All of this is explained in the first ten minutes. The rest of the documentary follows this guy self destructing. He becomes one of the biggest jackasses of all time, biting the hands that feed him and squandering huge opportunity after huge opportunity. It’s a fascinating film, but painful to watch at times.

Speaking of The Times, they’re showing Chinatown for a week starting tomorrow.

Also, American Movie Classics is showing a Charles Bronson double feature tonight, Death Wish 2 and Death Wish 3. I love the channel guide’s description of DW3 - “The vigilante architect shops by mail for what he needs to waste punks in the streets of New York”. Seriously.

Chuck, your gift of carmel corn was really just too much, thank you. We liked it so much, we’ll just have to return the favor!

I thought “information architect” was a cool title, but man, “vigilante architect” is a whole other level.

Also, who don’t like carmel corn?

Old School Neighbor at 3302 Oakland Ave., Ryan Plato, stood up with Troy Duffy in a wedding. Pretty Insane. That guy’s a loser, if the door swung that wide open for me you’d see 7 dreamworks movies a year out of me including a Christmas Special on TV. What an idiot.
