The Worst Movie of All Time
It was around 3:00 am Saturday morning. I had fallen asleep on the couch in front of the TV. As I woke up, Connie was flipping through the channels. She was going through the HBOs when she stopped on James Franco (the guy who played Peter Parker’s friend, Harry Osborn, in the Spider-Man movies) dressed as a police officer in bed with a much older naked woman, sexing her up his night stick. Use your imagination. This bizarre and exceptionally disturbing scene got our attention. We checked the channel guide to find out what it was. The movie was called Sonny, Nicolas Cage’s directorial debut. Although I missed the first half, i doubt that i’ll ever see a movie this bad again. Franco stars as a male prostitute who works for his pimp mother, played by Brenda Blethyn. You have to see it to believe it. Cage plays a competing pimp (dressed in a loud yellow pimp suit and big sunglasses) who tries to set Franco’s character, Sonny, up with a male customer. Cage is an actor who rarely tones it down. His performance here sets a new standard for overacting. If you ever stumble across this on cable, take a peek. I dare you. It’s like driving past a really bad car wreck.
