Center of Power
For those of you not “in the know”, over the past year the Wauwatosa and Washington Heights area have become the Center of Power. It’s the premier part of Metro Milwaukee and where all the cool kids are hanging out these days. During the past couple of weekends i’ve been taking in many of the pleasures that the Center of Power has to offer.
A couple of weekends ago Connie and I celebrated our anniversary/Valentine’s at my new favorite restaurant, Bjonda. We dined in their Skylight room. You can see a picture of it on the restaurant’s home page. The Ribeye I ordered was perfect. Service was spectacular, great overall dining experience.
Last weekend, we went to Indigo, a new restaurant located where the Highlander previously was. Dan and Jen were there a few weeks back, they had a so-so reaction to their food. We ordered from their brunch menu. Outside of the server screwing up our order, I liked the place. My french toast was good. The restaurant’s brunch is a nice change of pace from Saz’s (also in the center of power) great stuff-yourself-silly brunch.
Yesterday, I took in a matinee at the Times Cinema (across the street from Indigo) of Undertow. It’s only playing through this Thursday. If you have the time, go see this one. The story is about two brothers, the older is played by Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) who live with their father in the poverty stricken South. Their recently released from prison, long lost uncle shows up and brings a lot of trouble with him. The movie has a Night of the Hunter feel to it. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
