Friday Night Poker at the Casino Royale
Connie’s uncle Steve, a.k.a. “Steve the Straight”, hosts a poker night at the Casino Royale every month. It’s a lot of fun mostly because of the good group of guys in attendance. I was invited to the game for the first time three months ago bringing Bryan and Les with me. On our first night playing with these guys Les walked out as the big winner.
Last night, Bryan, Les, Dan, Jim and 13 other participants shuffled and dealt. After five hours of play, aided by pocket bullets in two consecutive hands, I was the last man standing. With the trip to Europe a month away, this win couldn’t have been better timed.
After my triumphant victory I went home to count my money and get some sleep. When I woke up this morning there were a few messages from Bryan, Dan and Les on my voice mail. Apparently they went to O’Brien’s after the game and were overserved. Their messages informed me that Bryan was kidnapped (again) and the ransom was $360 (strangely the exact amount of my winnings).
