Oldboy

Oldboy is a very, very dark revenge film. The story involves a man who is mysteriously kidnapped, then held captive for fifteen years. While he’s imprisioned, his wife is murdered. When he gets out he’s determined to find out who was behind his kidnapping and get a whole lot of payback. Watching it is the viewing equivalent of getting repeatedly kissed by the business end of a baseball bat. It’s brutal. At times, it’s exhausting to watch. The lead actor, Min-sik Choi is so good in this. His character is a mix of Harrison Ford in the Fugitive and Charles Bronson in the Death Wish films. Great stuff.
