Top 100
Time Magazine film critics Richard Corliss and Richard Schickel came out with their top 100 films of all time list today. I love these types of lists because of the fun debate that they stir up. It’s so subjective. Unlike the American Film Institute’s list from a few years ago, the Time critics included foreign films on this new list.
When looking over best films of all time lists, you always expect to see movies like Citizen Kane, Casablanca, and The Godfather. I was surprised by a few of this list’s bold selections like Miller’s Crossing, Talk To Her and Chungking Express. A few of picks are a bit suspect, particularly Finding Nemo and The Fly remake. These are two of the best movies of all time? At the same time, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Annie Hall and The Graduate fail to make the cut. Interesting opinion.
For those unfamiliar with Roger Ebert’s Great Movies columns, look them over when you have some free time. He writes essays on what he considers the best films of all time. His columns are a good read.
