The Saturday Morning Golf Club

Bryan, Dan, Andy and I have been meeting early every Saturday morning for 18 holes of golf since the beginning of summer. I’ll be the first to admit that my level of play during the first couple of weeks could be best described as “atrocious”. It pleases me to report that I’ve been able to shave quite a few strokes off of my score over the last month and a half. Progress is being made.

Bryan, the Club’s de facto President, has been booking our tee times very early. We played Greenfield this past Saturday at 7:20. At first I was put off by the early start, but now I’ve embraced it. I can’t think of a better way to start Saturdays. It’s amazing how easy it is to jump out of bed when you’re heading out to play Golf with good friends.

So far we’ve played:

Lincoln - There’s that one hole with the tree in the middle of the fairway right before the green that always throws me off.

Grant (2x) - Great front nine, terrible back nine. We’ve played there often because of its proximity to Andy’s house.

Greenfield (3x) - My favorite of the courses we’ve played thus far. Nice long, clear fairways, no water hazards. The clubhouse featured hotdogs on those turning things. The older woman who tends the counter said that she’d make a “special” hot dog just for Bryan. He never went back for it.

Our next stop is Currie, Milwaukee County’s most played course, according to Bryan. I’m looking forward to it.
