My Place
Dan claimed his second Mr. RISK title a couple of months ago. On Friday night, he defended it.
Bryan, Dan, Les, Andy and I played our first Mr. RISK game since Buchs Weekend. It was a highly tense battle. Pacts were made, then broken. Tempers flared. It got ugly. At one point the competition was halted in order to settle a dispute between Bryan and Dan about who was taller. In the end, world domination came down to Dan and Les. The result was predictable. Congrats, Mr. RISK.
Andy had to get up early Saturday to make an out-of-town love connection. So, he left us right after the game.
Since we finished the game early in the evening, the other four of us decided to go out for a drink. I suggested a neighborhood bar that was a few blocks away called My Place. None of us had been there before. We were feeling adventurous, hungry for some local flava. As we approached the front door, I heard something that faintly resembled a BoDeans song. As I got closer to the bar, I realized that we had hit the jackpot - Karaoke!
In an event that will likely never happen again, the four of us wooed the patrons of My Place by each singing a song.
Dan started us out with a rousing rendition of Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive”. I followed him, singing the Journey classic “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart). Next was Bryan (by audience reaction, clearly the evening’s stand out performance) who switched things up a bit with Neil Diamond’s “Solitary Man”. Les finished our version of American Idol with a brilliant cover of the Police’s “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”.
I wish you all could have been there. Magic was in the air.
Buchs, you’re a star, a big bright shining star.
