Rome

I’ve been DVRing HBO’s newest series Rome for the last eight weeks. Les has raved about the show since the beginning. Last night I finally gave it a look.

It’s fantastic! Between the beheadings, crucifixions, animal sacrifices, slashed throats, and spears through the chest, Rome doesn’t pull any punches. It’s a pretty brutal show. Not to mention the sex. If you like sex, Rome’s got plenty of it for you. We’re talking Friday late night Cinemax levels of nudity here. What can you say? I guess the Romans sure liked their sexy-time.

I’ve only gotten through the first two episodes. The characters and the stories are great. Two episodes in, my early favorite character is Titus Pullo, one on Julius Caesar’s soldiers. He’s a real bad ass. The struggle-for-power theme of the show is awesome. I love the stuff between Caesar and Pompey Magnus. I can’t wait to watch the rest.
