I root for Saturday Night Live to be good. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been for quite some time. This weekend’s Jack Black episode was yet another dud, but it had one of the show’s best bits in a long time, Lazy Sunday. Check it out, if you missed it. I nearly peed myself the first time I watched it. Chris Parnell and Andy Samberg are hilarious in the short.

I watched about 3/4 of it this morning; the opening Kong Song was pretty good, and the Lazy Sunday was great. The Spelling Bee skit was brutal, although it did remind me of Chuck reading serial numbers off the back of an office copier.

Hilarious. The gunshot at the end was the icing on the cake.

In a loose acquantaince way out here I know those guys through channel101.com (which is led by some Milwaukee Dudes I know out here) Andy Samberg and two SNL writers (Kiv Schaefer and Jorma Taccone) have had a comedy group together called “The Lonely Island” and used to rock 101 and LA with sketches just like that, mostly rap videos and insanity. They’re mega talented and hopefully they can save SNL if they are allowed to. A great bunch of guys, watch all of their videos and their pilot they did for Fox. Make sure to watch “Just 2 Guys” “Stork Patrol”and “Kablamo” and “Bing Bong Bros”

Really really good. I think there’s so much good going on in the LA comedy underground right now that’s making it to the mainstream. Zach Galifinakis is next hopefully. Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Hollywood is getting major heat, lots going on. Channel 101 is rocking it to, people getting agents and deals out of making crazy ass online videos. Totally worth checking out:

The Lonely Island Guys are insane. Super funny. I love “Stella” lot out of NYC and the guys form the State, but I get the feeling that these guys may be the next big thing.
