Grievance Day

I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it any more.

Here are my most recent greivences:

  • I was at the gym this morning. After my work out, I sat on the bench to disrobe before hitting the shower. This 80-something year old guy wanders in and plops down right next to me. I look around and just about every other locker in the whole damn room was open, with plenty of other bench space to boot. This guy just didn’t want to give me some personal space. WTF?!

  • When I went to the art museum two weekends ago there was this couple who seemed to be taking the same path through all of the exhibits that I was. The guy was “explaining” the art to his female companion. It was pretty irritating. If you’ve seen Annie Hall, there’s the scene where Alvy and Annie are standing in line for a movie. Right in front of them is this obnoxious guy explaining the writings of Marshall McLuhan to his date. Alvy then pulls McLuhan out of nowhere to tell the guy that he’s an idiot and knows nothing of his work. That’s what I felt like doing.

  • People, turn off your cell phones at the movies. How many times do you need to be reminded to turn your damn phone off?!! Seriously! I was at the Times Cinema recently to see Somersault (great movie by the way) and there was this woman sitting a few seats away who neglected to turn hers off. To make things worse, when it started to ring she couldn’t find it to shut it down. I gave her a nasty look of disapproval. I’m not sure if she saw it in the dark of the theater, but you can bet your ass I gave her one.

Ah yes, there’s nothing like a good stern frowning. You sure showed her!
