Goodbye Carlos
I loved the dependable offensive juggernaut that Carlos Lee was as a Milwaukee Brewer. We’ll all miss him, but he was going to leave anyway. The team didn’t fail to resign him for a lack of trying. Who knows the Brewers could still resign him in the off season, anything is possible. The Brewers couldn’t NOT trade the guy...

No More Freak Shows
The Times Cinema in Milwaukee’s preferred West Side is one of my favorite theaters. I was bummed out to read on their website that they’re discontinuing their midnight movie series, The Friday Night Freak Show. I’ve gone quite a few times and always thought it was a fun experience....

Hedgpeth Festival
My sister and I are going down to Twin Lakes next Friday night for something called Hedgpeth Festival. It’s a music festival that The Flaming Lips are headlining. The Lips are the best live act I’ve ever seen. If you haven’t caught them live yet, this would be a great opportunity to check them out. Tickets are only $30,...

Pirates and Cars
Connie and I went to the drive-In Friday night for a double feature of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and Cars. Most of the big movies I’ve seen this year (DaVinci, X3, Superman, Poseiden, Nacho, Click and The Break Up) have been lousy, so it was nice to see a pair of fun summer flicks. Cars is one of...

The Killers - "When You Were Young"
Pitchfork Media has the first single off of the new Killers album streaming on their site. I was really looking forward to the new album. It comes out in October. After giving it a listen, I hope that the rest of the album is better than this track. …and next time you run into Dan Cody ask him to croon...

Birthday present
My sister left a message for me this afternoon to ask me what I wanted for my birthday. I thought long, I thought hard, and there’s only one thing that I really want for my birthday this year, one of these. Speaking of b-day presents, I had lunch with Tony this afternoon and he gave me a new GC game....

Superman Returns isn't very good.
I’m not going to say it’s a bad movie, because it’s not. It just isn’t very good. I went in with big expectations, and it pains me to admit what a huge disappointment it was. I really wanted it to be great. My problems with it: 1 Kevin Spacey’s Lex Luthor - He’s watered down. A great hero needs...

Bagel Ladies, Where's My Smile?!!
My office is in Hales Corners. There’s only one option for bagels in this neck of the woods, Big Apple. The good news is that it’s conveniently located a block away from me. The bad news is that the bagels aren’t that great, and the bagel ladies won’t even give me a smile. Einstein’s bagels are my favorite, Brueggers’...
