Labor Day Weekend Movies - Crank & The Wicker Man

I caught a couple of flicks over the weekend.

Crank - Jason Statham is actually really good/funny in what amounts to an updated version of DOA. It has a crazy fast pace and twisted sense of humor, not to mention quite a few “What the f**k?!! I can’t believe that was in this movie” moments. If you miss the good ol’ days of Steven Seagal/Jean-Claude Van Damme-style ultra violent movies with an abundance of tongue-in-cheek humor, this is the movie you’ve been waiting for.

The Wicker Man - Without a doubt, it’s the most entertaining bad movie to come along in a while. Although I wouldn’t recommend paying money to see it, you should give it a look at some point. Its unintentional humor is unmatched. Nicolas Cage is gloriously over-the-top. The movie’s Carnival/Renaissance Faire-like finale may be one of the most ridiculous things ever committed to film.

I’m still afraid to see any Jason Statham movies.

ding dong

Hey Bryan, can you answer the door?

I’m sure it’s not Jason Statham waiting for you to look at him out of the peephole before he kicks the door down on you.

The Transporter is so awful, amazingly bad.

I think there should be a movie called,

“Jason Statham on a Plane”

Where Sam jackson tees off with him, Jive cool vs. Brit sarcasm. Could be great.

I thought Crank was awesome and yes I do miss the old school Steven Seagal action movies (Marked For Death, etc). Statham is the new-aged Seagal, hopefully one that keeps his action films real and doesn’t get at BUrger King everyday.

CRANK- 5 Stars.
