Two Saturdays in Madison: Part One

I spent the past two Saturdays in Madison for Wisconsin Badgers Football. These are pictures from the first weekend. I was joined by my college roommates Les, Jim and Jason.

Madison students want us to help them drink their beer.

The students won’t take “no” for an answer.

Jim agrees to help them out.

The ladies like Jason.

Jim likes Jason.

Les likes beer.

One of my personal highlights from this trip was Jim explaining that he had become disinterested in the NFL…and the only way that he would regain that intestest would be if Brett Favre was traded to the Dallas Cowboys, who would coax Michael Irvin out of retirement. The Cowboys then meet the Aaron Rogers led Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game at Lambeau Field. During the final seconds of a close game, Favre throws the winning touchdown to Irvin. Then Irvin celebrates his game winning catch by leaping into the crowd in the exact spot where Bart Starr was seated. At that moment, Starr has a heart attack and dies.

I’ve never laughed so hard at anything Jim has ever said.

Chuck, I still remember the look on your face as I was explaining that dream scenario. Priceless and a great “Six” moment if there ever was one.

Think about it, though. Think about how great that would be. Even Bob Harlan would be thinking, “Holy moly! That was really something else!”

Honestly, I think about calling up our good friend John Navarre Sr. every time we get together. He’s going to have to stop by the next time we meet for drinks or something.

That John Navarre Sr. bit will never get old.
