U2 3D
I was talking with Tony over lunch today about how great digital 3D is. We agreed that Beowulf in 3D was impressive to say the least. Marcus’ Ridge Cinema in New Berlin is the only theater in the area that’s set up to run digital 3D. Their next feature that uses the technology, U2 3D opens there on February 15th....

Black Mirror
For Bryan, Les and all of the other Arcade Fire fans out there, here’s a link to their new video for Black Mirror. I thought it was pretty cool. It reminds me of The City of Lost Children....

Bruce at Harley's 105th
Booking Bruce Springsteen for Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary is a nice way to make up for the Elton John misfire. Unfortunately if you want to buy a $42.50 ticket for the Boss’ show at Veterans Park, you’ll have to shell out $65 for a two day pass to the celebration that precedes it at the Summerfest grounds. Who’s performing during...

Arrested Development
HDNet has been airing re-runs of Arrested Development, one of the best TV shows of all time. Yesterday they ran the series finale. Tomorrow (1/21/08) they’ll start over from the beginning. If you’ve missed any of the shows, I urge you to DVR/Tivo them....

Cloverfield - Movie Review
I saw the trailer for “1-18-08” when it came out a few months back. All I gathered from it was that something wreaks havoc in New York City. What ever it is rips the head off of the Statue of Liberty in the preview. It looked interesting. As months past I was vaguely aware that it was building a lot...

The Kmart Checkout Line
About a block away from my office there’s a Kmart. It’s pretty convenient for getting stuff like shipping supplies and greeting cards on the fly. Yesterday I ran in for a tube of wrapping paper. I wasn’t feeling well and kind of in a hurry. It takes me only one minute to walk in the store and find the paper...

Rush http://www.livedaily.com/news/13519.html Ho hum… I’m sure there are those that will be excited by this, I’m just not one of them. REM is also touring this summer. I could see them headlining one of the Summerfest nights too....

American Idol Stalker Guy
With great shame I admit to enjoying more than my share of reality shows, but American Idol is one that I’ve never gotten into. This clip had me laughing, so maybe I’m missing something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNcu2L1rP8Q&feature=related...

This weekend's hot ticket
Out of curiosity, I’ve been keeping an eye on what people are asking for Packers/Giants tickets on Craig’s List this week. There are quite a few listings and prices are up there. My favorite of all the Packer ticket-related posts was this one: http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/tix/541210033.html If it were me, I would have jazzed it up a bit and written that I...

Death Sentence - Movie Review
I love revenge thrillers. Death Wish, of course, is my favorite. Last year there were two out at the same time. The Brave One starring Jodie Foster and Death Sentence written by the same guy who wrote Death Wish. I saw The Brave One in the theaters. In short, it stunk. It wasn’t sure if it wanted to be a...

Chuck's new favorite things 1/11/08
Athenos Pita Chips - Connie turned me on to these. They remind me of the crust pieces that they give you at Edwardo’s before you get your pizza. Various websites that friends have sent me links to: http://www.isitchristmas.com/, http://www.catsthatlooklikehitler.com, http://www.justsayhi.com/bb/zombie Jens Lekman’s latest album Night Falls Over Kortedala, especially the song “Your Arms Around Me”....

Joshua - Movie Review
I stopped at the Hollywood Video last night looking for the new Death Wish influenced revenge thriller, Death Sentence. Just my luck, all of their copies were rented out. Before I left I decided to do a once through to see if there was anything else I was interested in. Sure enough. I picked up Joshua, an evil child movie....

Redacted - Movie Review
A couple of nights ago Connie and I caught the new Brian De Palma film Redacted. It’s currently available on Time Warner cable’s On Demand service. Redacted’s story is fiction, yet it was inspired by the real events surrounding the gang rape and murder of a 14 year old Iraqi girl by US soldiers in 2006. The movie takes a...

After a recent conversation with friends about the Berzerker scene from the movie Clerks, I can’t get that delightful little tune out of my head. One of these days I’ll start a cover band that only covers this one song. If you’re not familiar, click here....

American Gladiators
I wasn’t planning on watching it, but 8:00 came around and there wasn’t anything else on…so I gave it a try. It’s exactly the way I remember, but with Hulk Hogan and without Larry Csonka. I wouldn’t say that I like the show as much as I’d say I admire it. It’s so ridiculous. The best parts of American Gladiators...

Celebrity Apprentice
Reality TV continues to be one of my guiltiest of pleasures. The new season of Donald Trump’s Apprentice started last night. It looks like it’s going to be another fun show. Of the contenders, my early favorites are KISS lead singer Gene Simmons, American’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan and Stephen Baldwin. For those who missed it, the first episode...
