Joshua - Movie Review

I stopped at the Hollywood Video last night looking for the new Death Wish influenced revenge thriller, Death Sentence. Just my luck, all of their copies were rented out.

Before I left I decided to do a once through to see if there was anything else I was interested in. Sure enough. I picked up Joshua, an evil child movie. Imagine a mixture of The Omen, The Good Son, and Problem Child. This may not sound very promising, but what sealed the deal for me to rent it was that Sam Rockwell stars as Joshua’s father. Rockwell is one of those underrated actors that’s always good in whatever he’s in.

Unfortunately, what starts off as an interesting premise (husband and wife have a second child, older child becomes jealous of the attention the newborn gets and starts to do some really fucked up shit) turns into predictable melodrama that not even the great Sam Rockwell can save.
